Solar Water Pump
Hydrogen molecules and oxygen on a star? That is
actually the shortened version of a solar water pump. Solar
power now has expanded its retinue of devices that can be operated with
the generated electrical energy. Whereas in the beginning, small
devices like watches and calculators were the items it can power.
Nowadays a water pump can be powered using solar energy.

The system is arrayed in this manner. Solar
panels are placed where the sun can be accessed. The solar panels
contain photovoltaic cells which when excited by the sun’s rays would
generate watts of electrical energy. Depending upon the motor of the
solar water pump, the use of an inverter would be determined. If the
water
pump uses DC or direct current energy, then the generator is directly
connected to the pump. The electrical power then makes the pump do its
work. On the other hand, if the pump uses AC or alternating current
power, then the inverter to convert the DC power of the generator into
AC power to drive the pump. Solar water pumps have become staples in
many
home and business applications. When the location of the water use is
higher than the water source, a pump is needed to bring the water to
the desired destination. For home use, the water pump is used in the
same manner to be brought to the faucets or bathrooms in the home. The
cost submersible pumps, depending on output, is anywhere between $15.00
to as much as $200 exclusive of installation, shipping and handling
costs.
This simple system of transporting water uses a
large amount of electrical energy. Though alternatives can be used, the
most cost efficient of the choices is solar energy. Wind power may be
used, but the inconsistency of wind availability cannot compare the
constancy of solar energy. Fossil fuels also have become very expensive
nowadays, and the free cost of solar energy is incomparable. Also, the
environmental effects of continued fossil fuel use are now being felt
worldwide. So now is the time that solar energy can be best utilized
for such a simple system like water transport.
The question that arises is about nighttime use or
at times when the sun is not shining? This can readily be addressed by
having a battery to store the unused electrical energy produced. In
this manner, there would be no lag or downtime as to the availability
of solar generated electrical energy. And in time, solar powered energy
would become the fundamental energy source available not just the home
and for other applications as well.
